Family members of Temirlan Machalikashvili demand to treat him in Germany

German doctors did not refuse to accept Temirlan Machalikashvili, who was wounded during a special operation in the Pankisi Gorge, for medical treatment. However, the Georgian authorities offer lower-level clinics, relatives and advocate of the young man report.

19-year-old Temirlan Machalikashvili, who was heavily wounded by law enforcers to his head on December 26, is in a coma in resuscitation ward. David Sergienko, Georgian Minister for Public Health, announced that all the costs of medical treatment will be paid by the Georgian authorities.

On January 5 and 6, it was reported that a clinic in Germany refused to accept the patient, and a clinic in Austria is ready to accept him, but there were no free places there. At present, two Turkish clinics are ready to provide medical treatment for Temirlan Machalikashvili.

The Machalikashvili family members believe the law enforcement bodies put pressure on the Ministry for Public Health of Georgia to send Temirlan Machalikashvili for medical treatment to less professional doctors, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

According to the father of young Temirlan Machalikashvili, the Turkish clinic recommended by the Georgian Ministry for Public Health is worse than the other clinic in the same country, found by the relatives themselves, the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel reports.

According to the Georgian State Security Service, law enforcers fired at Temirlan Machalikashvili when he tried to throw a grenade in them. The relatives of the young man denied the above version.
