Bazhutin's nomination disrupted in Makhachkala
Today, members of the Dagestani Central Election Commission (CEC) have stated the disruption of a voters' meeting in support of Andrei Bazhutin, a self-nominee, the head of the Association of Russian Carriers. Only 25 voters came to the meeting, instead of the necessary 500.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the voting at the presidential election in Russia will take place on March 18, 2018. The election campaign officially started on December 18.
Today, in Makhachkala, as required by the Russian presidential election law, it was planned to hold a meeting of Andrei Bazhutin's supporters, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
A total of 25 voters only came to the meeting.
CEC officials declared the meeting invalid and drawn up a relevant act. A CEC member has explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that, according to the law, a self-nominee must hold a voters' meeting at least 500 people strong.
"Without a protocol of such meeting, the CEC will not register a self-nominee as a presidential candidate," he said.
