Kremlin: CIA helps to prevent terror acts in Saint Petersburg

Vladimir Putin has thanked US President Donald Trump for the CIA's information, which helped to prevent terror act in Saint Petersburg, the press service of the Russian President reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has informed that Shamil Omargadjiev, a native of Dagestan, and Alishan Esmurziev, a native of Ingushetia, were arrested together with other persons involved in the case of the preparation for a terror act in Saint Petersburg.

In total, seven persons were detained in the case. They were plotting to commit resonant terror acts on December 16. During a court hearing, one of the defendants confessed that he was going to blow up the Kazan Cathedral, the TASS reports today with reference to the FSB Public Relations Centre.

On Sunday evening, in a phone conversation, Vladimir Putin thanked US President Donald Trump for the information transmitted by the US Central Intelligence Agency, which helped to detain the persons involved in the case of preparation for terror acts. "The information got from the CIA was sufficient to search for and detain criminals," the Russian President's website reports.

Vladimir Putin has assured Donald Trump that in their turn, the Russian secret services will also help their US colleagues in case if they have information concerning terrorist threats against the United States.
