Zaur Shamsudinov's relatives want to know about his fate

Since November 15, relatives of Zaur Shamsudinov, a detained resident of Dagestan, cannot obtain information from police about his whereabouts. He is kept at the police station, they suppose.

According to his relatives, on November 15 "some armed people" came to his house in the village of Novotsatanikh, Babayurt District, and searched the house. They announced that they had found cartridges; and took Zaur away with them, said his brother Alikhan Shamsudinov.

Alikhan addressed his complaint about law enforcers' actions to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial". According to his story, Zaur "can be persecuted for his friendship with Shamil Saipulaev, the head of the village, who disappeared several years ago."

"There are various rumours that he had left for Syria, or was kidnapped," Alikhan Shamsudinov said.
