Court cancels dismissal of two activists in Azerbaijan
On September 25, the Court recognized the orders to dismiss teachers Aflatun and Ulker Akhmedli as illegal and obliged employers to pay salaries to the opposition activists for the period after their dismissal.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 27, Aflatun Akhmedli, the chairman of the Neftchala organization of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), and his wife Ulker Akhmedli, a member of the PFPA, were dismissed from the schools where they worked as teachers. They associated the dismissals with their opposition activities.
On September 25, the Neftchala District Court pronounced the decision to restore Aflatun and Ulker Akhmedli at their jobs. This has been told today to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Aflatun Akhmedli.
"We have challenged our ... dismissals in court. The trial lasted for five months. Yesterday, the Neftchala District Court finally granted our complaints and recognized the orders to dismiss me and Ulker as illegal. The Court pronounced the decision to restore us at our jobs and pay us salaries for a five-month period after our dismissal," said Aflatun Akhmedli.
The activist has clarified that he is satisfied with the Court's decision. "My wife and I are going to return to our previous jobs. And what can be happier for a teacher than a return to pupils!" noted Aflatun Akhmedli.
