Over hundred burials found at excavations in Kuban

During the excavations of an ancient fortress in the Krasnodar Territory (aka Kuban by the name of the main river), which was found during the construction of the energy bridge to the Crimea, a burial ground of the Khazar epoch with weapons and ornaments was discovered, the head of the archaeological expedition reports.

The archaeological complex "Vostochnokhankovskoye-1" is located in the vicinity of the village of Khankov, Slavyansk District, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Nikolai Shevchenko, the head of the Priazovsk Archaeological Expedition, a researcher of the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization (NPO) "Scientific-Research Centre for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage", has noted that such ancient settlements are often found in Kuban.

According to his hypothesis, the settlement was probably one of the borderline Greek fortresses, as it was on the very periphery of the Hellenic World.

At the same time, the burial is "most likely, connected with the Bulgarian ethnos."
