Dagestan declares September 15 to be a day off
The Government of Dagestan has announced the next Friday to be a day off in connection with celebrations on the occasion of the Unity Day for the Peoples of the Republic.
On that day, festive events and actions are planned in Dagestan. Schools, kindergartens, and institutions of higher and secondary education will host thematic classes and open lessons dedicated to the holiday, the RIA "Dagestan" reported on September 11.
The holiday is celebrated since 2011. The date is declared to be festive, since on September 15, 1741, local people forced the army of Iranian commander Nadir Shah to leave the territory of Dagestan, the "Novoe Delo" reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on December 5, 2016, Ramazan Abdulatipov criticized the idea of the law on the Russian nation and said it "could not exist in the world."
