State of New York to pay 22 million US dollars to boxer Abdusalamov’s family

The family of Magomed Abdusalamov, a boxer from Dagestan, accused officials and doctors of New York State of negligence and unprofessionalism. In the opinion of the family, if the fight had been stopped in time, Magomed’s grave injuries could have been avoided.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 2, 2013, after a fight with the Cuban boxer in New York, Abdusalamov was diagnosed a blood clot in the brain and fractures of his arm and nose. The athlete received an irreversible brain damage.

The authorities of New York State have agreed to pay 22 million US dollars (1.25 billion Russian roubles) to the boxer's family. Now, he is passing rehabilitation in the United States after a severe craniocerebral trauma that caused the 36-year-old boxer paralysation on the right side and inability to walk and speak, the “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” reports.

Abdusalamov had 19 boxing fights and won 18 of them (all by knockouts) and suffered one defeat, the “championat.com” reports.
