Chechen authorities report sending food to Muslims in Myanmar

The Chechen authorities have organized the supply of food and clothing to Muslims from Myanmar who stay in refugee camps. This was reported by the administration for the Chechen leader and government.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Chechnya, on September 4, a rally in Grozny to support Muslims of Myanmar was attended by 1.1 million people. Meanwhile, according to the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta", no more than 100,000 people came to the action.

"At present, about 160,000 refugees stay at spontaneous camps," reported the spokesperson for the administration for the Chechen leader and government.

According to him, the assistance is provided through the Akhmat-Khadji Kadyrov Foundation.

"This is the first organization which got permission to help Rohingya refugees," the official has added.

Meanwhile, many residents of Chechnya continue to state they are willing to "go to Myanmar to protect Muslims."

"Even today I am ready to go there to fight against those who kill Muslims," said Aslan, a 23-year-old resident of Grozny.
