Ingushetia resident suspected of involvement in combat actions in Syria

A 24-year-old resident of Ingushetia is suspected of joining an armed grouping in Syria.

According to investigators, in autumn 2015, he arrived in Syria, where he voluntarily joined an armed grouping. He took active part in battles against the Syrian authorities for purposes contradicting the interests of Russia.

According to the website of the Investigating Department for Ingushetia of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), a criminal case was instituted against the suspect.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that, according to the Ingush Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), since the beginning of the war in Syria until this January, about 200 residents of Ingushetia left to the country and joined the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS) banned in Russia. A quarter of them were killed, and ten persons returned to their homeland.
