Political analysts doubt "Kadyrov's factor" in relations between Moscow and Beijing

The calls of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov to protect the Rohingya people and the mass rallies in support of Muslims in Myanmar, which is a part of the China's sphere of influence, have coincided with the Vladimir Putin's visit to the BRICS summit in Xiamen and his talks with Xi Jinping. The Ramzan Kadyrov's actions and Muslim rallies could be used as a warning to China and a subject of bargaining during the talks. However, the leader of Chechnya is not interesting to Beijing and is unlikely to play a role in the Russian-Chinese relations. This opinion was expressed by political analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".

Earlier, Ramzan Kadyrov has threatened to oppose the Russia's position if Moscow supports the organizers of the persecution of Muslims in Myanmar.

In late August, the UN Security Council received a draft resolution on Myanmar with an appeal to allow humanitarian organizations enter the areas where Muslims lived. The document was blocked by China and Russia, the "Kommersant" reports.

According to Professor Alexei Malashenko, the chief of scientific research at the Dialogue of Civilizations Research Institute, the significance of Ramzan Kadyrov in the Russian-Chinese relations cannot be great. The Chinese "also do not care about the opinion of the Muslim community," noted Alexei Malashenko.

Political analyst Dmitry Oreshkin believes that Ramzan Kadyrov could use the problem of Muslims in Myanmar to raise his own prestige.

Dmitry Oreshkin has drawn the attention to the fact that the Kremlin can benefit from using the situation in Myanmar to divert the public attention from other foreign policy problems of Crimea and Ukraine.

Meanwhile, according to Dmitry Oreshkin, the Islamic ideology will play an increasingly important role in Russia.
