Military experts: Agile Spirit 2017 exercises in Georgia directed against Russia

It is important for soldiers and officers from the countries participating in the Agile Spirit 2017 exercises to visit places where military operations are possible in the future. This opinion was voiced by Pavel Felgenhauer, an observer from the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta". The purpose of the military exercises is to increase tension in the south of Russia, believes political analyst Alexander Perendjiev. According to journalist Alexander Golts, the military exercises are directed against Russia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 3, NATO Agile Spirit 2017 military exercises were started at the Orfolo training ground in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region. The exercises involve more than 1500 soldiers from Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Latvia, Romania, the USA, and Ukraine.

When asked about the reality of war between Russia and Georgia supported by the NATO forces, Pavel Felgenhauer replied that "nothing could be ruled out."

"This is preparation for a war in Europe, which, according to the estimates of the Russian General Staff, can begin in 2025," the expert explained.

According to Alexander Perendjiev, an expert from the Russian Association of Independent Military Political Analysts, Associate Professor of the Department for Political Science and Sociology at the Plekhanova Russian University of Economics, European countries like Latvia, Romania and Bulgaria do not conduct military exercises because of fears of environmental pollution and unwillingness to provoke their people, many of whom voice anti-militarist attitudes.

"The countries bordering Russia build their defence without it and treat their neighbour as an unfriendly state," says military journalist Alexander Golts.

Let us remind you that Georgia is actively working to get integrated into the North Atlantic Alliance.
