Gas supply to blocked KBR’s villages restored

Gas workers have reported the restoration of gas supply to the area of Mount Elbrus. Residents of the blocked villages of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) report that they have received foodstuffs.

Because of the mudflows, they had to stop traffic on the Prokhladny-Azau highway; and gas supply to five villages was interrupted. The blocked territory has 7750 residents.

On September 3, after the publication of the "Caucasian Knot" that the blocked villages suffer from foodstuff shortage, helicopters of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) brought foodstuffs to the area and distributed them among local residents, said Rosa Zalikhanova, a resident of the village of Terskol.

Today since morning, according to locals, they are given food in a local mosque.

In their turn, in social networks, residents of the city of Tyrnyauz offer temporary housing to evacuated residents of the blocked villages.

Alan Shavaev, a resident of the Elbrus District, has noted that now "we need to unite and think how to help people."
