At Beslan commemoration rally, KChR residents call on not to admit another tragedy
Local residents, clergymen, teachers and local officials gathered to commemorate the victims of the Beslan terror act. More than 500 people came to a rally held in the village of Kosta Khetagurov in the Karachay District of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR).
The rally started with a moleben (prayer) and a dua ritual for the dead, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
"On this hard day of mourning, all the Abazin people, together with other KChR residents bow their heads in memory of the tragic days for the fraternal Ossetian people," said Vitaly Oguzov, Director of the Institute of Culture and Arts of the KChR’s State University.
Officials from local administration urged not to let this sort of tragedy happen again.
The rally ended with a minute of silence in memory of the victims; and 334 white balls were released into the sky – equal to the number of casualties. The participants laid flowers to the monument erected in honour of the terror act victims.
