KBR residents complain about foodstuff shortage in emergency zone

The area, blocked because of a mudflow descent, suffers from foodstuff deficit, locals report. In its turn, the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) reports delivery of food and essentials to dwelling settlements of Mount Elbrus area.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that mudflows went down near the village of Elbrus at night on September 1. There are 7750 people in the blocked territory.

Tamara Gerieva, a resident of Nalchik, said that after the accident, gas supply was cut off in Elbrus; and people, who had no electric stoves, could not cook food.

Kaziban Kochkarova, a resident of Terskol, noted that village shops got emptied, and "there is not enough bread." "Bread was distributed twice, a loaf for a family, which is not enough for families of four," she has added.

According to her story, the situation may become worse if the road cannot be restored promptly.

The website of the MfE’s Branch for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) reports that today the blocked area received 3800 loaves of bread, 726 1.5-litre bottles of drinking water, 150 kg of sugar and 1 ton of dairy products.
