Tourists evacuated from mountain pass in Georgia

Three Ukrainian tourists have failed to independently continue their way through the mountain pass in Svaneti, and rescuers brought them by helicopter to a safe place. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Georgia.

The tourists asked for help, while they were on the Bashili mountain pass in the Mestia District.

"Immediately after receiving a request for help, a group of Mestia mountain rescuers from the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti unit of the Georgian MIA's Department for Emergencies with the help of a border police helicopter successfully carried out a rescue operation and transported three tourists to a safe place," reported a source from the Georgian MIA as quoted by the "Sputnik".

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 6-8, rescue team evacuated a group of US tourists who appeared to be cordoned off in the village of Shatili in the Dusheti District because of the raised water level in the Argun River.
