"Chernovik": residents of Dagestani village protest against house demolition

Today, about 500 residents of the village of Novaya Shangoda-Shitlib in the Kumtorkalin District of Dagestan have come out to a rally against the disconnection of 18 houses from the gas supply and demolition thereof.

The demolition decision in relation to houses located at the main gas pipeline was taken by the court on the lawsuit of Limited Liability Company (LLC) “Gazprom Transgaz Makhachkala”, said Bagir Khuryalov, the head of the village. According to his story, the houses built in 1978-1984 in one street are subject to demolition.

"The village was attended by officials of the gas-supplying service without court marshals, who tried to turn off the gas supply. Outraged people blocked one of the streets and even planned to block the federal highway, but we have so far managed to dissuade them from extreme measures," the “Chernovik” weekly quotes the head of the village as saying.
