In Sochi, dirty water discharged on beach

In Adler, a dark-coloured water discharge has occurred on the Chkalovsky beach, and the drains hit the sea. The Sochi administration has stated that it was a discharge of drinking water from the water pipeline.

The incident occurred in the afternoon on August 4, when there were many vacationers on the beach. People saw a stream of dirty water flowing into the sea and hurried to stop bathing.

Stinking liquid of a dark gray colour has suddenly flowed into the sea and began to spread along the shore, the "Live Kuban" reported with reference to eyewitnesses.

A video record posted by the "Live Kuban" on YouTube on August 4 shows a powerful stream of very dark-coloured wastewater that hits from the pebbles and flows into the sea.

Today, the Sochi administration has commented on the incident and reported that there was a "release of drinking water" on the beach. According to the authorities, it was triggered by an accident on the 800-mm-diameter main water conduit in Medovaya Street, and the colour of the flow was caused by a flush of "soil impurities from walls of a storm collector."
