In Volgograd, picketers accuse authorities of multiple refusals to sanction actions

The Volgograd administration refuses to sanction actions in defence of Article 31 of the Constitution and deprives citizens of the right to express their opinion. This was stated by participants of solo pickets.

Article 31 of the Constitution of Russia reads: "Citizens of the Russian Federation have the right to assemble peacefully without weapons, hold meetings, rallies and demonstrations, marches and pickets."

In Volgograd, pickets in defence of Article 31 of the Constitution were held on July 31.

10 notifications were submitted to the Volgograd administration on holding public events on July 31 in the central region of Volgograd. However, none of them was sanctioned. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Vladimir Vasilchenko, an organizer of the action.

According to him, he holds pickets in defence of Article 31 of the Constitution since 2010. "For seven years, I conducted 51 pickets. However, 8-10 of them were not sanctioned, and we replaced them with solo pickets or other forms of actions," the organizer explained.

Igor Konotopov, a participant of the picket, has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he has been taking part in pickets in defence of Article 31 of the Constitution for three years already.

"We show that we have the right to go out without weapon to any place and voice our demands. In Volgograd, we are practically deprived of that right," Igor Konotopov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
