Relatives of Chechen residents from "execution list" complain about threats
Relatives of the residents of Chechnya enrolled in the so-called "execution list" published by the “Novaya Gazeta”, were forced to sign statements that their relatives had left for Syria or left home by themselves, the Russian BBC Service reports.
According to relatives of those on the list published by “Novaya Gazeta”, they know nothing about the fate of their relatives since the police had detained them.
As stated by the Russian BBC Service, several relatives claim that they had been forced to sign blank sheets. What happened then to their signatures, they do not know.
Relatives of the missing people also claim that after many of them had turned to the Investigating Department for Chechnya of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) with their applications about their missing husbands and sons, they began receiving threats.
Djambulat Umarov, the Chechen Minister for National Policy, External Relations, Media and Information, has treated the information as "nonsense."
On July 24, it became known that Chechen power agents had detained 13 persons from the "execution list", the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" reports.
