"Sasna Tsrer" supporter suspected of using violence against policeman

David Yeghiazaryan, a brother of Gagik Yeghiazaryan, a member of the unit "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun), has been accused of using violence against policemen after an incident in the yard of the court which considers the case on capture of a building of the police regiment in Yerevan. The supporter of the opposition called the criminal case fabricated. Meanwhile, the investigative authorities instituted a case on obstruction of the activities of advocates, who were not allowed by the police visiting David Yeghiazaryan.

On June 28, the police drew up a protocol against David Yeghiazaryan for attempting to use force against law enforcers. Force was unjustifiably used against David Yeghiazaryan, and policemen did not allow the advocates visiting the detainee. This was reported by advocate Lusine Sahakyan.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by the press service of the Investigating Committee of Armenia about institution of a case on the fact of the incident in front of the Yerevan court building.

David Yeghiazaryan himself associates the criminal proceedings against him with his political views.

"On that day, the police did not detain, but kidnapped me. I was approached by Valery Osipyan, the deputy chief of the Yerevan police, who demanded to follow him. I did not even have enough time to make a step when a group of 'red berets' (a special police squad, note of the 'Caucasian Knot') approached me. They were given an order for my detention, which was accompanied by violence and obscene words," David Yeghiazaryan said.

David Gyurdjyan, an advocate of David Yeghiazaryan, also treats the criminal case as fabricated.
