Court makes Boris Stomakhin's detention regime more severe

The court has made the detention regime more severe for Boris Stomakhin, sentenced for a material about the terror acts in Volgograd. His serving of a sentence at a high-security penal colony was replaced with detention in prison. His advocate has announced the intention to appeal against the court's decision.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 20, 2015, Boris Stomakhin was sentenced to three years of imprisonment for publication of a material about the terror acts committed in Volgograd on December 29-30, 2014. According to investigators, Boris Stomakhin publicly acquitted terrorism. At the time of the trial, Boris Stomakhin was serving his sentence under a similar charge, pronounced on April 22, 2014.

The sentenced man is to serve two years and four months in prison.

Earlier, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" has opposed the transfer of Boris Stomakhin to the prison regime. According to the human rights defenders, the penal colony administration based its demand on unreasonable penalties against the publicist. So, in February 2016, Boris Stomakhin was placed to a punishment cell for appearing outside his cell without a tag on his robe. The prisoner claimed that on the day of the alleged violation, he did not leave the cell at all.
