Stepanakert marks Memorial Day by book presentation
In Stepanakert, people have marked the Memorial Day to pay tribute to people missed in the Karabakh war by laying flowers and by a presentation of the book "The Hope of the Country".
Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia celebrate the Memorial Day since 2000.
On June 29, at the Stepanakert Memorial Complex, people laid flowers and wreaths to the monument with carved names of the persons missing during the conflict.
According to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Union of Relatives of Missing Persons, in Nagorno-Karabakh, the fate of 710 people still remain unknown, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
According to Vera Grigoryan, the author of the book "The Hope of the Country", Baku officials deny that there are people in Azerbaijan who are considered missing in Nagorno-Karabakh.
"International agencies are not able to change anything and help," she has added.
Officials from the Nagorno-Karabakh State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing People have noted that the data on the number of the persons missed in the conflict are not final yet.
According to Eteri Musaelyan, the press secretary for the ICRC in Stepanakert, since 2014, the ICRC's mission is engaged in collecting DNA samples from relatives of the missing persons.
