Experts call on Armenia to revise relations with Russia

Armenia is negative about Russia's supplies of weapons to Azerbaijan, but is positive about its military cooperation with Russia, Vigen Sarkisyan, the Armenia's Defence Minister, has stated. Armenia should revise its agreements with Russia to ensure its security, Manvel Sarkisyan, a political analyst, believes. Ruben Megrabyan, another expert, is sure that by supplying weapons to Azerbaijan, Russia behaves like Armenia's enemy.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 24, a huge batch of military equipment arrived in Baku from Russia, which will be sent to the Karabakh conflict zone.

Armenia is negative to any weapon supplies to Azerbaijan, Minister Vigen Sarkisyan has stated.

He did not rule out that Azerbaijan could start "a new round of aggression on the front line."

Manvel Sarkisyan, Director of the Armenian Centre for Strategic and National Studies, believes that Moscow sells weapons to Baku in order to influence Azerbaijan; but Russia does not care about possible consequences. According to his story, Armenia should conduct its independent policy.

Mr Sarkisyan has excluded a large-scale war, since the arms race is often only a deterrent mechanism.

Armenia should start "talking to Russia in the language of ultimatum," said Ruben Megrabyan, an expert of the Armenian Centre for Political and International Studies.
