Alleged author of video about demolition of houses in Chechnya released
A resident of Novogrozny, detained after posting a video on the Internet, showing demolition of residential houses, is back at large, his relatives have reported today, adding that the young man is not allowed to leave the settlement.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported with reference to locals that on June 13-14, in the settlement of Novogrozny (Oiskhar), Gudermes District, law enforcers detained over 10 persons. The reason was the search for the author of the video about the demolition of houses during the reconstruction of the settlement launched in May.
From the moment of detention, relatives of the young man did not know about his whereabouts.
"Perhaps, as it is now customary, he will be forced to publicly apologize for what he did," said one of his relatives.
In the opinion of Aslan, a lawyer and an activist of a local public organization, the publication of the video about the demolition of houses violates no laws.
Earlier, Chechen law enforcers said they did not know about the detentions in Novogrozny. In their turn, local residents expressed fears that such rapid construction of new houses could not do without technology violations.
