"Sasna Tsrer" supporter taken to police after brawl in courtroom

Policemen draw up a protocol on David Egiazaryan, a brother of the member of the "Sasna Tsrer" detachment for an attempt to use force against law enforcers, said Lusine Sahakyan, an advocate.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today at the court session on the case of 14 "Sasna Tsrer" members, a brawl broke out of defendants with policemen. Three defendants were taken out of the courtroom. An advocate one of them has stated a violation of his client's rights.

In the period from July 17 to July 31, 2016, in Yerevan, the armed "Sasna Tsrer" detachment of supporters of the "Constituent Parliament" kept the building of the police patrol-and-post service (PPS) with hostages.

Following the defendants, David Egiazaryan, a brother of the defendant Gagik Egiazaryan, was also taken out of the courtroom. According to Lusine Sahakyan, policemen used cruel force against him. Besides, advocates were not let to the detainee.

After drawing up the protocol, David Egiazaryan was released.

Ms Sahakyan believes that today, policemen did everything to create a conflict situation in the courthouse.

In his turn, the advocate Musheg Shushanyan believes that policemen's actions have become even more violent. The very presence of a detachment of "red berets" (riot police fighters) at the courthouse indicated the pre-planned provocation, he has added.
