Twelve persons hospitalized after road accident with military bus in Armenia
A bus of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has flipped over in the Gekharkunik Region of Armenia. Four victims were hospitalized in Vardenis, and eight others were sent to Yerevan.
The accident occurred today around 8:30 a.m. local time on the Vardenis-Daranik highway. A GAZ-66 bus was transporting about 20 servicemen, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports with reference to Artsrun Ovannisyan, the MoD's press secretary.
According to the Armenia's Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), the bus rolled over into a ravine from the height of six meters; the bus body was ripped off the chassis. Fourteen persons received injuries of varying severity; two of them received help on the spot; 12 were taken to the military hospital of the city of Vardenis; later, eight of them were taken to Yerevan.
The highway, along which the MoD's bus was driving, was crossed by a herd of cows; and the driver, while trying to escape collision, failed to control the bus, the "Shamshyan.com" reports.
