Housing certificates granted to 42 families from destroyed house in Volgograd

In Volgograd, at a meeting with tenants of a house destroyed by a gas explosion in University Avenue, officials reported on assistance provided to victims.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 16, in the Soviet District of Volgograd, an entrance of a four-storey building in University Avenue collapsed after an explosion of gas. As a result, four people were killed and 11 others were injured.

The house is found unfit for human habitation and will be demolished. 47 families are applying for housing certificates, the construction committee for the Volgograd Region reports.

According to Governor Andrei Bocharov, the decision to demolish the house has been made, but considerable funds are required for the demolition.

Vice-Governor Valentina Grechina has reported that 43 families had applied for housing certificates and 42 certificates had already been issued.

According to Vitaly Likhachov, Mayor of Volgograd, the tenants offered to build a park at the place of the destroyed house.

Natalia Boldyreva, a resident of the destroyed house, has treated the officials' activities in providing assistance to the victims as "well-coordinated."
