"All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress" challenges decision on its liquidation
On June 15, an appeal against the decision of the Supreme Court (SC) of the Russian Federation on liquidation of the "All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress" was filed to the Appeal Board of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 15, the Russian SC granted the request of the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to liquidate the "All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress", since its articles of association did not comply with the legislation of the Russian Federation. The Baku authorities urged Moscow not to take measures against the "All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress".
In 2001, the "All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress" was created with the support of Heydar Aliev, the former Azerbaijani President, and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The organization unites members of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in Russia.
At a court hearing held on May 15, an official from the Ministry of Justice referred to violations in the activities of the "All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress". In particular, he noted that the NGO's name did not indicate the nature of its activities and that the data on persons entitled to act on behalf of the NGO without power of attorney did not correspond to the data from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities (known as EGRUL).
Members of the "All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress" claimed that the NGO tried to eliminate the violations, but the Russian MoJ did not approve the document confirming their elimination.
