Kantemir Balagov's and Rezo Gigineishvili's films awarded "Kinotavr" prizes

In Sochi, the "Kinotavr" film festival finished, and its main prize went to the film "Arrhythmia" directed by Boris Khlebnikov. The prize "To the Best Film Director" was awarded to Rezo Gigineishvili, a film director of Georgian origin, for his film "Hostages".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 10, the results of the "short meter contest" were summed up. The main prize went to the film "Lalai-Balalai" directed by Ruslan Bratov, a native of Karachay-Cherkessia.

The film "Arrhythmia" describes a story about the everyday life of a young doctor who faces arbitrariness of his bosses. The prize for the best male role was awarded to Alexander Yatsenko, who performed the leading role.

The prize "To the Best Film Director" went to Rezo Gigineishvili, a film director of Georgian origin, for his film "Hostages".

The film "Hostages" was included in the special programme "Panorama" of the 67th Berlin Film Festival. The film story is based on a real history of an aircraft hijacking committed in Tbilisi in 1983.

The award "For the best debut" went to the film "Tightness" (Tesnota) directed by Kantemir Balagov from Kabardino-Balkaria.

Kantemir Balagov's film won the prize of the international cinema media at the Cannes Film Festival. The film's story takes place in Nalchik in the late 1990s.

The prize for the best female role was awarded to Inga Oboldina, an actress of the film "Burn!" (Zhgi!) directed by Kirill Pletnyov.

The contest of the 28th "Kinotavr" film festival involved 14 films. Of them, half were debuts by film directors in feature films. The total budget of the film festival exceeded 166 million roubles.
