Valencia recognizes Armenian Genocide
The Council of the Spanish city of Valencia has officially recognized and condemned the genocide of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Turkish authorities would not regard the massacres of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire as genocide.
The Armenian Genocide was recognized by over 20 countries, including Canada, Argentina, Switzerland, Russia, Belgium, France, Poland, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Uruguay, Greece, Cyprus and Vatican. At different times, the Armenian Genocide was recognized by 44 out of the 50 US states and the District of Columbia.
Today, the Valencia City Council has voted for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. The resolution was submitted for voting by the union of the local Armenian community "Ararat", the "Tert.am" quotes the message of the Armenian Embassy to Spain.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" wrote that on April 28 the Armenian Genocide was condemned by the Council of the Spanish city of Villena.
