Argishti Kiviryan released
Argishti Kiviryan, a coordinator of the agency "Armenia Today", has claimed that the police acted outside the law. The police state that the activist was detained on suspicion of wearing cold steel arms.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 31, Argishti Kiviryan was detained in Yerevan. According to the activist, policemen approached him and demanded to show the contents of his pockets. He found those claims illegal and refused to obey.
According to Argishti Kiviryan, he was held at a police station for almost two hours on suspicion of wearing cold steel arms. However, according to him, the policemen did not find any prohibited items during the search, and he was released after the protocol had been drawn up.
The activist did not rule out that he would challenge the lawfulness of his detention at the administrative court.
Earlier, Argishti Kiviryan has been repeatedly brought to police stations and fined. So, on August 1, 2013, he was detained when he attempted to install a tent in front of the Yerevan City Mayor's Office building, where activists were on hunger strike with the demand for resignation of Misak Ambartsumyan, the chief of the transport department and the director of the "Yerevantrans".
