Policemen explain shooting in Makhachkala by cow chasing

Policemen had to use their firearms when they tried to kill a mad cow in Nasrutdinov Avenue, said Ruslan Ibragimgadjiev, the spokesman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan. A video of the cow chase appeared on the Internet.

Judging by the video posted on the YouTube, the driver of the police UAZ minivan to drive the cow away from the street. Then he got out of the minivan and fired at the cow almost point-blank, but the animal tried to escape. Policemen continued the pursuit and tried to ram the animal, but the cow began running away.

According to Mr Ibragimgadjiev, policemen acted within the bounds of the law.

"We received several calls from concerned residents of Makhachkala, who reported that in the Reductorny settlement, a cow was attacking people and tried to horn children," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, adding that "the animal behaved very aggressively, and attacked policemen, who had to use their pistols."

He explained that "the cow was not shot dead." "They drove it away into some safe territory and called the owner asking him to take the cow home," Ruslan Ibragimgadjiev has concluded.

As a result, the owner of the cow had to kill the cow, the "AiF-Dagestan" reports.

User of the "VKontakte" social network diverged in their opinions on the reasons of using firearms against the cow.
