Opinion of Makhachkala residents was disregarded when naming Nurbagandov Street
Residents of the street, renamed in honour of Magomed Nurbagandov and his brother Abdurashid, express regret about the forthcoming paper red tape. The Makhachkala residents, who will not be affected by these problems, support the renaming decision. Among locals, there are those, to whom Nurbagandov surname says nothing, as well as those who would not like to change anything.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Nikolaev Street in the Leninsky District of Makhachkala was named in honour of Magomed Nurbagandov, an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan, and his brother Abdurashid, who were killed by militants on July 10, 2016, in the village of Sergokala.
It has not been definitely decided yet whether a monument or a memorial plaque to Nurbagandov brothers will appear in the former Nikolaev Street.
Residents of the street in question are upset about the need to change documents.
Arsen Magomedov, the head of the law firm "Magomedov and Partners", notes that any street renaming should take into account the population's opinion, as stated in the resolution of the Makhachkala City Assembly of November 17, 2011.
