Truckers of Southern Russia may remain unheard by authorities
The truckers' reluctance to quarrel with the Kremlin and the absence of mass actions make their protests imperceptible to authorities. With such an attitude, they will face difficulties in getting any essential population's support, Dmitry Oreshkin, a political scientist, and Alexei Malashenko, a member of the Scientific Board of the Moscow Carnegie Centre, have stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since May 21 truckers' protests have been held in Moscow.
Dmitry Oreshkin is sure that "ordinary Russians have got accustomed to protests; and now, it is already impossible to attract their attention to the problem." He has suggested, "the only possible option is protesters' unification around Alexei Navalny."
Besides, Mr Oreshkin believes that the truckers' strike was the least successful among all the latest protest actions in Russia.
In his turn, Mr Malashenko has noted that people "got used to truckers, and getting population's support has already become problematic."
In his opinion, the truckers' protest "is a trend that will scale up."
Dmitry Gudkov, an opposition politician and a former State Duma MP, believes that truckers' protests "should reach the political level."
