Batlaich protesters demand to punish those who beat up village head

They decided to send an official letter to the head of Dagestan with a demand to bring to justice those guilty of beating up Arthur Aliev, the head of the Batlaich village administration in the Khunzakh District. The participants of the rally have also stated that their protests will be continued.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported citing Aliev's fellow villagers that he was beaten up on May 25 after he refused, in the office of a district official, to sign documents, allegedly related to rental of Batlaich village's rural public lands.

Today, the protest rally held in the Khunzakh District was over 300 persons strong. Patimat Alieva, the victim's sister, has addressed them.

According to Shamil Magomedov, one of the protesters, the rally was also attended by villagers from Khunzakh, Gintchutl, Tsada, Tanusi and Arani.
