Left-wing movement activist arrested in Sochi
On May 23, Maxim Schastlivy was detained by law enforcers. He has been charged with disobeying a lawful request to police officers. The court sentenced the activist to 10 days of arrest.
Activists were detained near the building of the Multifunctional Centre (MFC). This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by lawyer Yulia Klyuchka, who was an eyewitness of the activists' detention. According to her information, Maxim Schastlivy did not commit any offense and did not render any resistance to the police. From the police station, Maxim Schastlivy was brought to the Central District Court of Sochi.
"When Maxim Schastlivy was brought to the court, the judge removed all people from the courtroom. They did not justify their actions in any way. Maxim was not allowed to examine the case file. He was also refused in his right to defender and defence... The court did not pronounce any motivated decision. The judge only read out a resulting part and pronounced the decision to arrest Maxim Schastlivy for 10 days," said Yulia Klyuchka.
