Lawyers see political nature in position of chairman of Dagestani SC
Chairpersons of the Supreme Court (SC) of Dagestan always influenced the political decisions in the republic. This opinion was voiced by advocates Rasul Kadiev and Rinat Gamidov. Magomed Magomedov believes that Ruslan Mirzaev has failed to keep the position of the chairperson of the Dagestani SC because of high competition and pressure of lobbyists.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 22, the Russian Supreme Qualification Collegium of Judges will consider the applications of ten candidates for the position of the chairperson of the Dagestani SC, including Suleiman Suleimanov, the current deputy chairperson of the Dagestani SC.
According to Rasul Kadiev, an advocate and a journalist, the chairperson of the Supreme Court for the Republic of Dagestan "is in fact a political figure capable to influence the processes in the region."
"The Dagestani SC considers disputes related to the authorities, including the challenge of voting results," explained Rasul Kadiev.
According to him, the SC "was a support for the leader of the region since the ruling of Magomedali Magomedov, the chairman of the State Council for Dagestan." Rasul Kadiev has also pointed to the fact that for a long time, the Dagestani SC was headed by Anvar Magomedov, a relative of Magomedali Magomedov.
Rasul Kadiev has also noted that Ruslan Mirzaev, who took the position of the chair of the Dagestani SC in 2011, "reformatted it, tightened discipline and organized rotation of personnel," noted Rasul Kadiev.
According to the advocate, at present, the candidates are involved "in a tough fight" for the position of the chair of the Dagestani SC.
Magomed Magomedov, an observer of the newspaper "Chernovik" (Draft), has also noted that "the position of the chairman of the Dagestani SC has always been of political nature."
