Investigation into case against 14 "Sasna Tsrer" members completed
A preliminary investigation into the case against other 14 members of the "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun) has been completed. Within the investigation, more than 500 interrogations were carried out, and more than 100 examinations were conducted. On the basis of the court's decisions, investigators got the details of mobile phone calls and secret banking data of the defendants. This has been told today to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent at the Special Investigating Service.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the charges in the case on the capture of the building of the patrol-and-post (PPS) regiment were filed against 47 persons. On November 19, 2016, the investigation of the case against 12 members of the "Sasna Tsrer" was completed, and on April 12, it was completed against other 15 members of the "Sasna Tsrer".
The armed group "Sasna Tsrer", formed by supporters of the movement "Constituent Parliament", kept the building of the PPS regiment in Yerevan during the period of July 17-July 31, 2016. The rebels took hostages. By July 30, all the hostages were released, and a day later, members of the armed group surrendered to the police.
According to the investigators, after seizure of the buildings and cars, members of the armed group "Sasna Tsrer" took hostages the policemen and the physicians who entered the building to provide medical assistance to the hostages; besides, the rebels also grabbed the carbines and pistols stored in the duty unit of the PPS regiment.
The investigators also believe that earlier, on April 24, 2015, Varuzhan Avetisyan and Pavel Manukyan, together with a number of other persons, were plotting mass riots in the places of events to be dedicated to the Armenian Genocide.
