Relatives associate Abzagirov’s disappearance with his religious views

Relatives of Idris Abzagirov, a missing resident of the village of Korkmaskala, Kumtorkalin District of Dagestan, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he disappeared in Makhachkala on April 11, 2017.

"He worked in Makhachkala; and on that day he, as usually, left home for work. In the evening, he planned to visit his brother at his work, but he did not get there. His wife called him at about 10 p.m., and some unknown man answered the call, saying that he had found the Idris' phone," Kumsiyat Abzagirova, a relative of the missing person, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

She also told that on April 11, in the highway near the village of Tyube, "unidentified persons shelled the car, earlier owned by Idris Abzagirov."

"He sold the car to his friend, Zakir Aslanov, who also disappeared on that day. He was out of contact since 6:00 p.m.; and later his car was shelled; it was burnt down; and remains of three people were found in it," said Kumsiyat Abzagirova.

"On the same night, at the police station, we were unofficially told that our nephew and Aslanov were in the burnt-down car, although their bodies were badly burnt," Ms Abzagirova has added.

Relatives of Idris Abzagirov are sure that "he was detained for his religious views, since he was a Salafi."

Relatives have turned to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" in Makhachkala asking to help to find Idris Abzagirov.
