Chamber of Czech MPs condemns Armenian Genocide

The lower house of the Czech Parliament has adopted a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Turkey.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 1915, more than 1.5 million Armenians were killed in the Ottoman Empire. Later, the victims were canonized in Armenia. In Ankara, the authorities have their own view of the events of 1915. According to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), "experts can study the common history of the Turkish and Armenian nations only on the basis of impartial scientific data."

On April 25, MPs of the Czech Parliament's Chamber considered the issue of recognition of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915. 104 MPs supported the decision, the "Interfax" reports today, on April 26, with reference to Tigran Balayan, the press secretary of the Armenian MFA.

In total, the lower house of the Czech Parliament consists of 200 MPs, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Czech President Milos Zeman has called the Armenian Genocide one of the worst atrocities in the modern history, the "TASS" reports with reference to Jiri Ovcacek, Milos Zeman's spokesman.
