In Dagestan, law enforcers carry out eighth special operation since beginning of 2017

The legal regime of the counterterrorist operation (CTO) introduced in the Buynaksk and Karabudakhkent Districts has been announced in the territory Dagestan for the eighth time since early 2017 and for the first time in the second quarter. In the period from January to March, special operations took place in the Botlikh, Tsumadin, Novolak, Buynaksk, Karabudakhkent, Kizlyar Districts, and Khasavyurt.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at 9:00 p.m. Moscow time of April 20, the CTO legal regime was introduced in the villages of Nizhny Djengutai, Durangi, and Karamakhi of the Buynaksk District, as well as in the villages of Dorgeli, Gurbuki, and Gubden of the Karabudakhkent District.

On January 17, the CTO legal regime was already introduced within the section of the Buynaksk District and the bordering Karabudakhkent District. According to local residents, they hardly felt the influence of the CTO legal regime. On January 18, the CTO legal regime was lifted.

Besides, in the first quarter of 2017, special operations in Dagestan were carried out six more times.

In 2016, law enforcers carried out more than 30 special operations in Dagestan, during which 17 militant leaders were killed. This was reported on March 30 by Abdurashid Magomedov, Dagestani Minister of Internal Affairs. According to him, all the southern regions of the republic are "cleaned of militants."
