Political analysts find attempt on Kadyrov quite realistic

The attempt on Kadyrov, of which the Yamadaev clan is suspected, could quite well have taken place; and it cannot be stated that Chechnya is completely controlled by the head of the republic. This opinion was expressed by the political analysts, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in September 2016 it became known from the words of Kadyrov that another attempt on him had been prevented. However, in October he announced that he knew nothing about the attempt.

According to the “Rosbalt”, Isa Yamadaev, accused of organizing the attempt, was arrested in absentia.

It is quite likely that the attempt on Kadyrov was really undertaken, said Alexei Makarkin, a political analyst and deputy director of the Centre of Political Technologies.

In his opinion, this case reveals a mismatch of external view on Chechnya with the real state of affairs in the republic.

Attempts on Kadyrov may be both real and imaginary, said Alexei Malashenko, an expert of the Carnegie Foundation.

"There are two types of attempts on Kadyrov: some were real, others were staged; in the first cases, people really wanted to get rid of him." In the second ones, the public was interested to show how many enemies Kadyrov has," Mr Malashenko has explained, adding that the Yamadaevs "have grounds for the blood feud."
