North-Ossetian authorities deny involvement in organizing rally in Vladikavkaz
On March 5, Vyacheslav Bitarov, the leader of North Ossetia, attended the rally held against the renaming of Ingushetia into Alania to prevent escalation. This was reported by the press service of the leader and the government of North Ossetia.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 5, in Vladikavkaz, local young people attended a rally against the initiative on the renaming of Ingushetia.
On March 6, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by an official from the press service of the leader and the government of North Ossetia that the calls to go to the rally were disseminated through social networks and messengers.
"Vyacheslav Bitarov, the leader of the republic, came out to the crowd to prevent a possible escalation of the situation and to answer all questions. Besides, the leader of the republic also explained to the young people that such rallies and conflicts between the people would not result in anything good, especially since such provocations occurred regularly. Vyacheslav Bitarov called on the young people not to rise to it," said official from the press service of the leader and the government of North Ossetia.
According to Aslan Tsutsiev, Minister for Nationalities Affairs of North Ossetia, such disputes should not be resolved at rallies.
"These disputes should not be held at rallies, since they are a subject for serious scientific discussions. There are experts on the matters related to Alania. They are specialists in historical linguistics, in paleogenetics, and let them dot 'all the i's'," Aslan Tsutsiev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
