KTC refuses to commute Polyudova’s verdict

The Krasnodar Territorial Court (KTC) has rejected the appeal complaint lodged by the activist Darya Polyudova, who asked to replace her remaining term in the colony-settlement for a more lenient punishment.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in late December 2016, a local court refused to commute the verdict to Darya Polyudova, who is kept in the colony-settlement in Novorossiysk on charges of extremism. Then, she filed a complaint to the Court of Appeal.

In December 2015, the Oktiabrsky District Court of Krasnodar found Darya Polyudova guilty of public calls to separatism and extremism and sentenced her to two years in a colony-settlement.

The interests of Polyudova were represented at the court session by Irina Biryukova, a lawyer of the Fund "Public Verdict".

In is noted in a message of the group in the Facebook that Polyudova has stated at the sitting of the commission for the conditional early relief (CER) that "she didn’t consider herself guilty, and was not going to give up her views." After that, the CER commission "gave her a negative characteristic."

Let us remind you that on February 14, Polyudova’s mother reported her daughter’s hunger strike in protest against her custody conditions. The Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service (know as FSIN) for the Krasnodar Territory has refuted this information.
