Two convicts in Vazagashvili's case go on hunger strike

Two former senior power agents, convicted in Georgia under the murder case of Zurab Vazagashvili and Alexander Khubulov, have gone on a hunger strike. They state a possible conspiracy against them of other defendants in the case, said the advocate of one of them.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in May 2006, in Georgia, as a result of a special operation Khubulov and Vazagashvili were killed; according to investigators, they had plotted an attack on a family in Tbilisi. Investigators had treated power agents' actions as an armed attack.

Pirtskhalava and Tsaadze, the hunger-strikers, demand to publish the document, according to which seven defendants in the case, who testified against them, had been in the same cell, said Malkhaz Velidjanashvili, an advocate of Irakli Pirtskhalava.

According to his version, placing these defendants into one cell was a violation of the law, and suggests that they could coordinate their testimonies.
