Source: IS supporters detained in Dagestan were not wanted

The seven supporters of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia detained in Dagestan, were members of a "sleeping unit" and had not been on the wanted list, said a law enforcement source.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 29 the Russia's FSB announced the detention in Dagestan of seven suspected militants, who, according to the FSB, were preparing terror acts in the region of Moscow.

"All the detainees belonged to a 'sleeping unit'; such units unite, as a rule, people, who share extremist views. They live a normal life, but at the same time are ready to commit terror acts," the source has explained.

According to his story, the names of the detainees are not disclosed; they are testifying about their contacts and aims. "They were instructed from Syria; people engaged in recruitment and training are there," the source has added.
