Law enforcers reveal links of attacks on policemen in various districts of Grozny

Militants who on December 17 and 18 attacked policemen in various districts of Grozny acted within two groupings, and they communicated with each other. This was reported by a source from the Chechen law enforcement authorities.

"The above fact has been revealed," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a source.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on December 17, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in Grozny. Power agents reported that four militants had been killed in a shootout, and two others were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. In the afternoon on December 18, they blocked a private house in an outskirt of Grozny. According to power agents, three militants were killed there, and two others were detained. Thus, in total, during two days, seven militants were killed, and four others were detained, three of them were wounded. Four policemen were also killed; and one policeman was wounded. Islamic State, banned in Russia by court and recognized as a terrorist organization, has taken credit for the attacks.

According to the source from the Chechen law enforcement authorities, at night of December 17, the Oktiabrsky District, the first grouping of militants led by Said-Ibragim Ismayilov killed policeman Vakhi Khatsigova. Then the militants seized his car and service weapon and drove to the centre of the city.

"On their way, they hit an inspector of the road-and-patrol service (known as DPS), who got serious injuries, but they were cordoned off in the area of Lorsanov Street. Three of them were killed when they attempted to render armed resistance. Two other guys and an 18-year-old girl were wounded and detained," said the source.

At about the same time, according to the source, the second grouping of militants attacked an apartment of a policeman in the town of Mayakovski of the Staropromyslovsky District of Grozny.

"This grouping of militants was allegedly led by Ibragim Mazhaev. The criminals broke into the apartment of Ramzan Inderbiev, a staff member of the patrol-and-post service unit. They knew him, and some of them even were friends with him. They tied the mother of the policeman and beat his younger brother. Then, they took his service weapon and left the apartment. After a while, they called Ramzan Inderbiev via the mobile phone of his younger brother, then attacked him and killed him, inflicting 17 stab wounds," reported the source.

"On the other day, December 18, near the village of Tashkala, the above grouping of militants shelled a staff member of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) who came out of a mosque and directed towards the exit from Grozny. The criminals were discovered near the village of Andreevskaya Dolina. Law enforcers managed to detain one of them, and four others were eliminated," noted the source.
