Updated list of political prisoners in Azerbaijan includes 119 people

In Azerbaijan, the working group, which included human rights defenders, NGO activists, journalists, and lawyers, has published an updated united list of political prisoners in the country. The list includes the information about 144 persons, 119 of whom are recognized as political prisoners. According to the activists, other 25 people may also be recognized as political prisoners.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the previous version of the list of political prisoners prepared by the working group of human rights defenders was published in October. It contained the names of 94 political prisoners. Other 45 people were taken under monitoring.

The names of 25 political prisoners are added to the updated list. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Rasul Jafarov, one of the coordinators of the working group, the chair of the Human Rights Club.

According to him, the names of all new 25 political prisoners were included in the category "Religious activists". In particular, "they are people arrested in various criminal cases related to the Nardaran events."
