Karinna Moskalenko prepares claims on behalf of victims of Dubrovka terror act

In the case against Khasan Zakaev, a native of Chechnya, accused of involvement in the seizure of the Dubrovka Theatre in 2002, the victim party will file civil claims for compensation for damage. This was announced by Karinna Moskalenko, a representative of the victim party, at the court hearing held on November 22.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in December 2014 the criminal investigation into the terror act committed during a performance of the musical "Nord-Ost" was resumed after detention of a native of Chechnya Khasan Zakaev, accused of helping the capturers of the theatre centre. Khasan Zakaev is accused of helping the capturers of the Dubrovka Theatrical Centre in 2002.

On October 23, 2002, during the musical "Nord-Ost", staged at the Dubrovka Theatre Centre, militants took 916 people as hostages. Three days later, during a special operation to free the hostages, 130 people died, and over 700 others were injured.

According to Karinna Moskalenko, the amount of claims will be specified later.

Karinna Moskalenko has added that at first, she needs to look through the case materials and to listen to Khasan Zakaev himself.

Igor Trunov, Doctor of Juridical Sciences, the chair of the Law Issues Department of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, used to represent the interests of the victim party until he was deprived of his status of advocate.
